Peninsula Wedding Dance help brides and grooms create that perfect wow moment for the couple’s first dance. This is a moment they will never forget, that will be captured by the wedding photographer and remembered fondly for years to come.
Dearne German and her team can help you plan your own dance with lessons and choreography.
We asked them a few questions about how it works, the future of the wedding dance and what makes Peninsula Wedding Dance different.
Hi guys, firstly can you briefly describe what you do at Peninsula Wedding Dance?
The service we provide is designing wedding dances for the Bride and Groom, Daddy & Daughter dances, Mother& Son dances, Parents of the Bride & Groom dance lessons, Bridal party dance lessons, Bridal party flash mobs and Hen’s day fun.
Whilst we focus primarily on the Peninsula, due to our popularity we have clients travel from all over the state for lessons with us, additionally we will travel to our clients.
All these details can be customised during an initial client consultation.
How long have you been involved with the wedding industry, and what makes your business unique?
Whilst Peninsula Wedding Dance is only a relatively new enterprise, having just joyfully celebrated our second birthday, Dearne’s continued dedication to the craft as a dance instructor illustrates perfectly not only her integrity as a professional but also her dedication to all that the industry encompasses.
In comparison to other options available on the Peninsula we are the only ones that offer a personal boutique experience. We offer consistency, exclusivity, our clients know that they will have Dearne for their entire wedding journey. We offer the credibility and integrity of over 20 years industry experience including several professional competitive dancing accolades.
Can you describe a difficult or challenging project where your business had to think outside the square to create the desired space?
Challenges sometimes present themselves with the space available at the reception venues. Such as where I have planned for a lift in the dance, the venue may have low light fittings or pillars on the dancefloor, so the couple may be at risk of injury. To remedy this, we offer an optional extra to our wedding packages, whereby we can hold the couples last lesson at the reception venue (upon approval by the Venue) to ensure all elements of the dance whether it be lifts, dips or general dancing doesn’t run into error.
What are your business goals for this year? Do you have any projects or services in particular that you are working on and would like to mention or highlight?
Our business goals this year are to exceed our clients’ expectations and continually evolve as a business.
This year we’re excited to be introducing Date night packages for any loved-up couple that would like to learn to dance over an hour lesson to music of their choice. These will be held on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
Couples can advise Dearne of their wedding dance song to reminisce their special day and in addition learn some new steps to dance to other romantic songs.
What’s your prediction on future trends within this industry?
Dearne: ‘I have noticed that due to the influence of both pop culture and social media on society today, many of our wedding dances have now become a wonderful opportunity to bring unity to the more diverse family structures we see today. The traditional wedding dance, whilst still so very popular has now evolved to something so much more. This is an element of the profession that I most enjoy, the rewards of such an exclusive relationship with my clients and being trusted to guide them through one of their most precious life moments.’
What wedding tip you would like to share with potential brides?
Start to learn your wedding dance a few months before the wedding.
One of your best wedding moments that you will always remember and that your photographer/videographer will capture is your first wedding dance as husband and wife.
Dancing is learnt through repetition and muscle memory and time is needed to obtain these skills.
Peninsula Wedding Dance can assist you to be confident, relaxed and calm for those few moments in the spotlight. The Bride will look like a princess and the Groom like a gentleman, let us create a WOW moment that you will cherish for the rest of your lives.
